Fixed partial dentures are also known as bridges or bridgework and are put in place on a permanent basis rather than being designed for removal. Fixed partial dentures can be anchored as an implant or attached to another tooth depending on the specifics of the location. Today’s dentures are typically crafted with porcelain which gives a very natural appearance and a healthy and bright smile.

Denture care regimens vary, depending on the type of denture. Some dentures are designed to be brushed in the mouth with a soft brush or dental toothbrush, while others are removed for cleaning in a denture cleaning solution. Fixed dentures should be flossed regularly as well. Care of dentures also extends to follow up appointments to monitor the fit and position of the dentures due to naturally occurring changes in the shape of a patient’s mouth. These follow up appointments allow for adjustments in case these changes begin to cause some discomfort.
